Thousands of advocates, activists and community members flooded the streets at Foley Square, across from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) New York Field Office on July 12, 2019 to join New Sanctuary Coalition and The New York Immigration Coalition at the Lights for Liberty vigil, deemed one of the largest solidarity actions in history with over 750 vigils across 5 continents. A light was lit for all those held in U.S. detention camps and to bring light to the darkness of the Trump administration’s horrific policies.
Constituents of Congressman Gregory Meeks showed up at his Rockaway offices on July 2, 2019 to demand the closure of inhumane child Detention centers in the #CloseTheCamps Protest as part of a national day of action in response to the inhumane conditions in Trump's detention centers. Participants read testimonies from people held at the camps to Meeks' staff, followed by a written statement from the Congressman.
The People's Puppets of Occupy Wall Street was founded in Zuccotti Park, in the first two weeks of the Occupation of New York City. It continues on as a collective that helps other activists build beautiful and effective visuals for actions.
